Literacy Week started on International Literacy Day (8 September 2015) and ended on the 17 September 2015.

The aim of Literacy Week 2015 is to organise as many events as possible throughout Europe to raise awareness for the dream of a Europe in which every adult can read and write well enough to fully and independently participate in society.

So you've decided you are going to organise an event: great! But why register it? In a nutshell, signing up your event will give you the opportunity to:

  • - be part of a European movement for literacy;
  • - promote your event in an international dimension;
  • - participate in the event contest and be awarded at the official closing ceremony in Brussels.

Ultimately, registering your event will help:

  • - show policymakers in Europe that low literacy is an issue;
  • - display the diversity of actions taken across Europe to spread the message of the importance of literacy;
  • - advance the cause of literacy throughout Europe.

If you want to make a chance at winning the 'Literacy Week Innovation Award', register before 16 August 2015 and take in mind the following criteria when filling out the form:

  •   - Creativity / originality
  •   - Scope / reach of audience
  •   - Used resources
